Thursday, Sept. 30, saw Todd County triumph over St. Francis 54-14.
The Todd County Falcons experience as a program proved to be to much for a talented Warriors team.
With the game going into the second quarter with two big goose eggs on the scoreboard, it was evident that both teams came to play.
The second quarter got started with a quick score by TCHS quarterback Tre Tuttle connecting on a 12 yd. pass to sophomore Clyde Colombe.
Isiah Snead would quickly return the favor, returning the next kick back, which to the agony of the Warrior fans was ruled out of bounce midfield.
SFIS would go on to take advantage of the field position and score on a drive of their own with a 42-yard touchdown pass from Eric One Star. He connected with Derrick McCloskey, who would take it in for the SFIS touchdown.
The game would stay SFIS 6, TCHS 8 until around the eight-minute mark when TCHS scored two touchdowns in just over 20 seconds, with touchdowns from Keenan Weddell and Doug Stenberg.
SFIS held off the Falcon attack until just under the five-minute mark, when TC’s Tuttle scored, followed by the fourth consecutive PAT from Traven Covey.
Doug Stengerg added another touchdown still with four minutes left in the second, and he would continue the scoring onslaught with a final 2-yard run to end the half (TCHS 40, SFIS 6).
The third quarter got started with Falcon Keenan Weddell scoring on a 15-yard run followed by a Covey PAT after two consecutive missed attempts.
SFIS regrouped, and Austin Prue would break loose on a 63-yard TD pass from One Star. On the PAT attempt, One Star connected with Snead to end the scoring for the third quarter.
The game remained 47-14 until Sage Marshall connected with Weddell on a 31-yard touchdown pass with less than a minute in the ball game.
TCHS is now 3-2 and will face Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (2-4). Cheyenne-Eagle Butte is coming off a 37-point loss at the hands of Pine Ridge.
SFIS in now 0-5, and will see if they can continue to build a foundation when they travel to Crow Creek to face the 1-4 Chieftans who were mercy-ruled by Mobridge last week (64-6).
