The City of Mission Chamber of Commerce met on Thursday to discuss this year’s Welcome Neighbor Day and make plans for next year’s.
According to Chamber President Phyllis Littau, Troy Heinert reported a good turnout for the golf tournament with 11 teams.
Littau also said Chamber members were pleased with the day’s overall turnout and weather.
“Everything went pretty well,” Littau said. “We were so impressed that there were so many people there from all over, all the different communities – White River, Parmelee, it was just really nice.”
Next year’s event is set tentatively for Saturday, Sept. 20, 2011.
“We’re trying to do it early enough next year so that we’ll hit the good weather,” said Littau.
Along with featuring the same events as this year’s WND, the Chamber hopes to also include a road run, one large door prize people can register for, and an arts and crafts fair.
“We hope to gradually make the event bigger and better each year,” Littau said.

“We’re the only community anywhere close around that does something like this for our customers.”
Littau and the Chamber also said the event was only a success thanks to the many local businesses and individuals who helped and participated, and they are looking forward to next year’s.
“It will be better,” Littau said.
