(PR) – Throughout the next month, high school student leaders from around South Dakota will attend one of eight Regional Student Council Workshops.
The Regional Workshops are co-sponsored by the South Dakota High School Activities Association and the South Dakota Student Council Association.
The Workshops are planned to enhance the leadership abilities of those high school student leaders that are in attendance. The format for the workshops is designed to provide an opportunity for high school student leaders to network with other student leaders, gain training in leadership skills, and exchange information about student council activities in each of the schools.

“Student Leadership training has a direct relationship to active community involvement when students become adults,” said Ken Pickering, SDHSAA Assistant Executive Director. Pickering summarized the value of the Regional Student Council Workshops by stating, “It has been demonstrated, that when students get together with other student leaders and with advisors from other schools, each participating school and it’s community will benefit through the exchange of new ideas. The skills gained during workshops such as the Regional Student Council Workshops are skills that last a lifetime.”
