»‘Beaux’ Beauvais awarded 2011 Gates Millennium scholarship

Baptiste “Beaux” Beauvais, a senior at Todd County High School was notified last Tuesday that he was awarded a 2011 Gates Millennium Scholarship. Beaux worked on the Gates application essay questions for close to a year before finally submitting his application. His college plans are to attend Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. and study emergency medical services which will qualify him as a certified paramedic.
He plans to return home on Rosebud Sioux reservation upon graduation and has hopes of working with the ambulance service. Beaux’s paternal grandparents are Benjamin and Victoria Beauvais, The maternal grandparents are the late Lloyd and Annabelle One Star.
He is the president of the National Honor Society and the co-editor of the yearbook at Todd County High School. Beaux was nominated for the prestigious scholarship by teacher, Frank Baca. He is the son of Dr. Archie Beauvais of Mission and Marian A. One Star-Sorace of Rosebud.
Gates Millennium Scholarship selects 1,000 talented students nationwide to receive a good-through graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. Gates Millennium Scholars are provided with personal and professional development through leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college career.
